As we come into Winter, it’s time to explore the vibrant flavours of the season. From earthy root vegetables to zesty citrus fruits, we’re here to guide you through the delightful offerings of this months fresh market.
Fruit Update
Citrus fruits continue to shine bright in the market, with an abundance of sweetening Naval Oranges available. They make for perfect halftime sport snacks, providing a burst of refreshing sweetness. Adding to the citrus lineup, Imperial mandarins are enjoying their prime and are ideal for school lunch boxes, offering a convenient and delectable snack option.
The Queensland berry season is slightly delayed, resulting in expensive berry prices. However, the berries currently in store are of exceptional quality and flavour. Hopefully, we wont have to wait for the new season too much longer. In the meantime, keep an eye out for Cara Cara Oranges which will be hitting our shelves soon. These juicy pink flesh navals are an absolute treat!
Veg Update
This season brings a delightful array of winter root vegetables to the market, including parsnips, swedes, and turnips. These hearty gems are the perfect companions for soul-warming soups and stews, infusing your meals with an earthy and comforting touch.
If you’re feeling a bit adventurous and eager to explore new flavours, we highly recommend indulging in the wonders of celeriac. This bulbed looking vegetable is another great addition to soups and also, pureed over some grilled white fish or beef for a hit of flavour (our favourite!).
Don’t miss out on the local-grown broccoli bunches that are gracing our shelves. Bursting with both value and nutritional benefits, these vibrant green florets are an absolute must-try.
